Another change is my job. Less than a month after I moved into this flat, which is 10 minutes walk from my old office, they announced that they were outsourcing the whole department to Bulgaria. I didn't like that job, but it was a shock. I got a new job, and have been working in IT for Doctors Without Borders since early 2021. I had my interview online because we were still in lockdown, but I don't actually remember anything about it because I had Covid at the time! I was amazed when I was offered the job! I started off as level 1 Microsoft support, and have worked my way up to team lead. A lot different to my creative and theatre background! Now that lockdown is over we must work from the office a certain number of days per week, but it is a dog friendly office. Sherry loves to go and see all the people.
A lot of other things changed too. My father died unexpectedly. Unexpectedly to me anyway, nobody told me how ill he was. That was a major shock. It was 2 years ago now, and I still don't think I'm over it. My grandmother had a stroke, but she is doing well. Sherry has arthritis in his back hips, but he is doing well with the CBD tablets prescribed by the vet. As for me, my mobility has declined. In addition to the twisted feet and legs that I was born with, and the scoliosis that developed as a result, I now have hyperlordosis of the lower spine. Fun times. And I still have that damn lump in my sinus. Not because of Czech hospitals or anything, just because I don't have anyone to look after me and Sherry after I have it done.
Something I did back in the summer - I went back on the river! I joined the rafting trip for the first time since my accident in 2018. It went well, no near death experiences this time! People were very helpful about my mobility problems, and helped me in and out of the boats. Sherry came too!
And of course, not to forget, those float up cocktail bars!
